AWW & WEA Conference Awards 2022
Terry Shaddon, Lead Operator at WTP, was the recipient of the Water Works Outstanding Achievement Award for a population of more than 5,000. The AWEA selects an individual that has demonstrated abilities that include outstanding performance in works, operations, management and advancement of knowledge in the field of water treatment. Terry is a very responsible and dedicated Water Operator. He takes the junior operators under his wing and ensures that they are well trained. Terry is always approachable and listens to the needs of fellow operators to ensure work continues smoothly and efficiently. He also did an outstanding job as our interim Water Treatment Plant Director during our transition. City Corporation is super proud of you, Congratulations Terry!
Tony Sanchez, Lead Operator at PCW, was the recipient of the Water Environment Federation William D. Hatfield Award. This award is presented to a wastewater treatment plant individual selected by the Arkansas Water Environment Association in recognition of outstanding performance in works, operations, management and advancement of knowledge in the field of water pollution control and professionalism. This award began in 1958 and Tony is the 34th award winner in 65 years. Last year Tony won the Wastewater Outstanding Achievement award at the 2022 AWEA Conference. We are so happy for you Tony, Congratulations!
Randy Bradley, Water Operations Manager, was the recipient of the Mike Thomason Wastewater Manager of the Year Award. Randy was responsible for the direct supervision of the pretreatment program, wastewater treatment plant, and laboratory staff in his time at PCW. Randy has maintained his Class IV Wasterwater Treatment Operator’s License for 26 years. He was involved in the planning, designing, and the construction of the recent PCW upgrades. With the new improvements this was the first time in decades that there were no permit violations despite heavy rainfall, a huge milestone here at City Corporation! Congratulations Randy!
Grand Prize Winners Russellville Christmas Parade 2022
Our Christmas Float this year was a lot of fun! Renae Taylor, our resident artist, drew and painted the furnace under the stairs. Michael Jordan made a guest appearance as a card board cut-out in the house window which was pulled back and forth across the window during the parade by Mia Hawkins. Again thank you so much to everyone who participated! The Maintenance Team did such a great job building the float and wiring all the special lights and movement that added to the Christmas magic of the parade!
Best Tasting Water in Arkansas 2022
The Arkansas Rural Water Association (ARWA) annual conference was held at the Hot Springs Convention Center on September 11-14, 2022. Our City Corporation Ambassadors, Larry & Judy Collins, collected and delivered our water for the Best Tasting Water in Arkansas competition. The water was kept cold, and then judged on quality, industry standards, and taste. City Corporation was voted the Best Tasting Water in Arkansas 2022! This is a two year running sweep for us and a total of five wins since entering this competition in our state!

AWEA Collection System Award
Congratulations to Randy DeFoor one of our C&D Technicians on winning the Arkansas Water Environment Association award for Collection Systems Operator of the Year. This award acknowledges an individual that is dedicated to their career in the wastewater field and has made outstanding contributions to the wastewater collections profession. Randy is a fast learner and adapts to everchanging tasks within his job duties. He is relied upon for most of C&D’s production each day in the system and is a highly valued member of our team here at City Corporation!
AWEA Pretreatment Professional of the Year
Congratulations to Greg Kremers our Pretreatment Coordinator on winning the Arkansas Water Environment Association award for Pretreatment Coordinator of the Year. This award acknowledges an individual that is dedicated to their career in the wastewater field and has demonstrated outstanding performance and professionalism in their contributions to the water quality analysis profession. Greg is efficient and reliable in his duties. He is a great communicator and works with customers to help resolve any noncompliance environmental issues related to our water and sewer systems. Greg is an essential and valued member of our team here at City Corporation and we feel grateful to have him!

Congratulations to Brooks Teeter one of our PCW Lab Analyst on winning the Arkansas Water Environment Association award for Lab Analyst of the Year. This award acknowledges an individual that demonstrates an outstanding professionalism and performance in making contributions to the water quality analysis profession. Brooks is an outstanding worker. He has only been in the lab for three years. He is always trouble shooting any challenges City Corporation’s lab faces. He works very well with others and is always seeking opportunities to improve lab techniques and reach out to the wastewater operators and discuss the lab results and how they pertain to our specific plant operations. Wastewater Outstanding Achievement
Congratulations to Tony Sanchez our Senior Wastewater Operator at PCW on winning the Arkansas Water Works & Water Environment Association award for Wastewater Outstanding Achievement. This award acknowledges an individual that is dedicated to their career in the wastewater field and has demonstrated outstanding performance and professionalism in their contributions as a wastewater operator. Tony is always professional in his conduct with employees, contractors, and customers. He is an ideal employee as he has a very positive and cheerful demeanor. Tony is also very conscientious of the duties of the jobs he is responsible for and towards the employees that follow his guidance. He can also be described as a life-long learner and has helped to contribute with the designs and new technologies, and budgeting for operations as the Wastewater Treatment plant is being updated. We are very grateful to have Tony on our team!
Aaron A. Stallman Young Professionals
Congratulations to Dalton Ragland on winning the Aaron A. Stallman Young Professionals Award. This award was created in honor of the lead engineer for Garver working on the water systems of Arkansas who passed away in his 30s. This award acknowledges an individual under 30 who is dedicated to their career in the water field and has demonstrated outstanding performance and professionalism in their contributions to preserving and maintaining our water resources. Dalton produces exceptional work each day and keeps the department on track. Not only is he accurate in his duties, Dalton retains an impressive amount of assets with only three years of experiences. He is a quick learner and processes things quickly with a lot of attention paid to the details. We are honored to have Dalton here on our City Corporation team!
WEF Lab Analyst Excellence Award
Congratulations to Charlotte Petrick our PCW Senior Lab Analyst on winning the Water Environment Federation Lab Analyst Excellence Award. This award can only be awarded once and acknowledges an individual that demonstrates an outstanding performance, professionalism and contributions to the water quality analysis profession. Charlotte always goes above and beyond anything she is asked to do. In the 23 years she has been with City Corporation, she has not only been a stellar employee but a teacher and mentor with training our company’s lab analyst and operators. When it comes to a lab analyst, you will not find a better one and we are very grateful to have Charlotte on our team.
December 2021 Grand Prize Winners Russellville Christmas Parade
City Corporation took the Grand Prize in the Russellville Christmas Parade 2021 with our National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation float. The parade consisted of 93 entries and is one of the largest Christmas parades in the state. The competition categories were the Non-Profit Division, Commercial Division, the Grand Prize over all best float, and Santa’s Choice. As winners of the Grand Prize we will receive $250 and a travelling plaque we get to keep until the next Grand Prize winner. Riding on the float were Mia Hawkins as the Squirrel, Waylon Simmons as Clark Griswold, Diane Virden as Ellen Griswold, and Dalton Ragland as Cousin Eddie. Tony Sanchez and his family were the Griswold kids in the station wagon. The driver of the float was Steve Reeves with his family riding with him waving to the crowd.

City Corporation recently competed at the state level at the ARWA Convention in Hot Springs for the best tasting water and we won! Now we get to take our water to the national competition in Washington D.C. in the spring. We are officially the Best Tasting Water in the State of Arkansas 2021! A huge shout out to our Water Treatment Plant team and to Larry & Judy Collins for being our ambassadors at the convention!

City Corporation is proud to announce that our water has received the prestigious honor of People’s Choice for Best Tasting Water in North America at the annual American Water Works Association Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Congratulations to the staff for all their hard work and dedication in helping to provide the best drinking water to the city of Russellville.

City Corporation was awarded best tasting water among the states in the surrounding area at the Southwest Section Region Conference in Shreveport, La. Click here to read about this astonishing achievement in the local Courier. Earlier this year, City Corporation was chosen as the winner of the 84th Annual Drinking Water Taste Contest for the state of Arkansas. City Corporation advances to Chicago next June to compete in the national competition.
